Navaho Indian Myths by Aileen O'Bryan is a foundational collection of authentic Navajo (Diné) origin legends. It was originally published by the Smithsonian Institution in 1956 under the title The Dîné: Origin Myths of the Navaho Indians. The stories were recounted in 1928 by Sandoval, Hastin Tlo'tsi hee (Old Man Buffalo Grass), one of the four principal chiefs of the Navajo People, who wanted to preserve his culture's heritage before it faded.
