If This Is a Man (originally published in Italian as Se questo è un uomo and often released in the United States under the title Survival in Auschwitz) is a landmark 1947 memoir by the Italian Jewish chemist and writer Primo Levi. 

The book details the 10 months Levi spent imprisoned in the Monowitz-Buna concentration camp, a subcamp of the Auschwitz complex, before it was liberated by the Red Army in January 1945
